BODY FRAME FOR ELECTROLYZER WITH HORIZONTAL MERCURY CATHODE Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C25B1/40 C25B9/14 

FIELD: electrochemical production of chlorine and caustic soda; electrolyzers with horizontal mercury cathodes.

SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer body frame has two parallel and symmetrical channel profiles, connection strip connected with channel profiles, flange plates welded to butt ends of channel profiles and rubberized coat on channel profile surfaces, flange plates and connection strip. Connection strip is connected with channel profiles by means of detachable joint which is sealed-up by elastic gasket; rubberized coat on channel profiles and flange plates is additionally covered with fluoroplastic film by applying and bending it; fluoroplastic film is secured on rubberized coat by means of fasteners located on sections of surfaces of channel profiles and flange plates which are not in contact with working medium of electrolyzer. Elastic gasket is made from rubber. Thickness of fluoroplastic film ranges from 0.5 to 1.2 mm. Proposed construction makes it possible to avoid action of electrolyzer working medium on rubberized coats of channel profiles and flange plates, thus enhancing durability of frame.

EFFECT: enhanced durability and maintainability of frame due to detachable joint of channel profiles with connection strip.
