FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; electrolytic production of aluminum; mounting of cathode part of aluminum electrolyzer.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method improves quality of inter-block and peripheral seams due to optimal tightness of their packing ensuring maximum physico-chemical strength of hearth corresponding approximately to strength of monolythic hearth. Proposed method includes mounting hearth blocks in cathode casing, filling and packing inter-block and peripheral seams with carbon-containing hearth mass. Inter-block seams are sealed-up layer-by-layer to tightness ensuring parameter of ultrasonic monitoring of hearth mass at level of average parameter; peripheral seams are sealed-up by 0.5-15% below tightness of inter-block seams; filling and sealing-up inter-block and peripheral seams are performed layer-by-layer with the use of templets and/or measuring instruments; side surfaces of adjacent blocks are coated with layer of surfactant before packing the seams with hearth mass.
EFFECT: increased service life of electrolyzer.
