FIELD: electrolytic processes and equipment. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns, in particular, mounting a section of cathode unit of aluminium electrolyzer and consists in that a part of cavity of bottom assembly which is not filled with current- withdrawing rod from the side of "blind" end of bottom section (depression), is filled with material based on aluminium-containing oxides, advantageously containing silica. Material of depression is impregnated and filled with electrolyte or cryolite melt with cryolite number no higher than 2.8 which contains more than 2% silica.
