FIELD: geochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: soil samples are selected from behind soil layer along prepared profiles above reference objects from known deposits and with known seismic structure, where oil and gas deposits are absent, and above analyzed structure, revealed by seismic prospecting. Reduction-oxidization potential Eh is measured in selected samples of soil and concentration of water-insoluble compounds of transient metals at lower degree of oxidation C is determined. Plots are built showing dependence of concentration of water-insoluble compositions of transient metals at lower degree of oxidation on values of reduction-oxidation potential Eh is selected samples along made profiles. Extremely high concentration of water-insoluble compositions of transient metals at lower degree of oxidation C in separate samples, areas of migration of hydrocarbon gases and reduced value of reduction-oxidation potential Eh in the areas above analyzed structures witnesses of their oil saturation.
EFFECT: improved truth of prognosis of oil and gas bearing capacity of geological structures.
