FIELD: local prediction of hydrocarbon pools. SUBSTANCE: samples of under ground deposits are taken along profiles crossing tested area. True concentration Ctr of calcium is determined by quantitative method and tentative concentration Ctcn of calcium is found by way of spectral analysis by method of pouring and air blowing under condition that provides for independence of temperature of arc discharge from gross composition of samples. Losses for calcination are additionally determined in samples. Tentative concentration Ctcn of calcium is determined by calcium analytical lines of 300.68 nm and/or 272.16 nm. Factor of genetic information is computed per each sample which is Ctr/Ctcn, where Ctr is true concentration of calcium; Ctcn is tentative concentration of calcium. Judgment on presence of non-productive, productive, border ( geochemical barrier ) zones of hydrocarbon pool and zone of water-petroleum contact is made on package of values of losses for calcination and of factor of genetic information on lines of calcium in samples of under ground deposits.
