FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method is carried out by duplex-process including charging the burden into electric arc steel-making furnace; burden includes stainless steel and ferro-chromium wastes. Then metal is molten at simultaneous lancing with oxygen through lance after which semi-finished product is tapped from furnace and metal is blown in argon-oxygen refining unit with mixture of oxygen and inert gas. Melting is performed in high-power furnace with bay window tapping. Fraction of waste ranges from 68 to 85%. Blowing the metal with oxygen through lances is started after consumption of power reaches 75-80% of entire power; metal is tapped from furnace together with slag containing 10-15% of chromium oxides at temperature of 1650-1750°C at content of carbon ranging from 0.7 to 1.2%. Blowing in argon-oxygen refining unit is started at oxygen-to-inert gas ratio in blast equal to 4:1.
EFFECT: reduced content of chromium oxides in slag; increased productivity of process.
