FIELD: medicine, oncology, surgery.
SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with treating surgically both benign and malignant thyroid tumors. Extrafascially it is necessary to remove an affected lobe with isthmus. At removing the opposite lobe on observing the inferior thyroid artery in the site of its crossing a reciprocating nerve it is necessary to study the inferior thyroid artery up to the site of its inflowing the thyroid capsule. One should make incisions at thyroid capsule leaving about 4-5 mm against the site of its inflowing for the purpose to intracapsularly ligate the inferior thyroid artery or its branches. Then, one should fulfill thyroidectomy extracapsularly, the rest capsule should be sutured above the vessels ligated. The innovation enables to prevent the damage of parathyroid glands and development of postoperational hypoparathyroidism.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
