METHOD OF EXTRAFASCIAL HEMITHYREOIDECTOMY WITH RESECTION OF ISTHMUS AND ABLATION OF PYRAMID OF THYROID IN CASE OF DIFFERENTIATED THYROID CANCER Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B17/00 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to oncology and surgery, and can be applied in surgery of differentiated thyroid cancer. Essence of method lies in extrafascial hemithyreidectomy with resection of isthmus and ablation of pyramid of thyroid, transverse transaction of anterior muscles of neck. Course of sublingual nerve is traced. Sternothyroid muscle is transected after visualisation in such a way that branches of sublingual nerve are preserved. Ablation of affected lobe starts from transaction of upper vascular fascicle, which is sewn and ligated near capsule with isolation of external branch of superior laryngeal nerve. Inferior thyroid artery is transected and ligated near thyroid gland capsule. Pyramid of thyroid is ablated extrafascially, exposing from isthmus to top with ligation of vessels near its capsule.

EFFECT: application of claimed invention makes it possible to prevent atrophy of anterior muscles of neck and the act of swallowing dysfunction due to prevention of trauma to branches of sublingual nerve.
