FIELD: metallurgy; making steel in electric arc hearth furnace.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes charging limestone into furnace, layer of composite containing iron oxide and carbon-containing materials, layer-by-layer charging of burden and melting of burden. Carbon-containing material in the amount of 10-20% of amount theoretically required for complete reduction of iron oxides is charged in mixture with limestone and the remaining part is charged in mixture with iron oxide material; after melting of 1/3-1/2 of entire volume of metal burden, gaseous carbon monoxide is fed through furnace hearth. Used as composite is finely-ground mixture of the following composition, mass-%: carbon-containing material, 5-15; calcium-containing material, 1-10; polyethylene waste, 1-10; the remainder being iron oxide material. Proposed method makes it possible to obtain high-purity steel at low content of sulfur and phosphorus, not exceeding 0.015% and admixtures of non-ferrous metals (copper, arsenic, lead) at use of technogenious wastes.
EFFECT: facilitated blending procedure.
