FIELD: cartography.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used at renewal of geographic maps, mainly sea maps. Initial cartographic material is subject to scanning. Received image is transformed into coordinate system by means of binding reference points with known coordinates. Map is subject to correction during three steps. During first step, image of content element, which lost actuality, is removed in raster form. During second step, image of newly appeared content elements is formed in vector form. During third step, the resulting graphic image is received due to bringing image received during first and second steps into coincidence.
EFFECT: higher speed of renewal.
