FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: method of creating a multilingual automatic index for an electronic digital pilot book enables to automatically create a master index of geographical denominations and names of objects of navigation equipment of a sailing area. Creation of the index is based on linguistic processing of the electronic version of the pilot book used to print its official edition, and enables retrieval of all versions of using terms of geographical denominations and names of objects of navigation equipment of the sailing area contained in the text. Creation of a bilingual alphabetical master index during automatic processing of national versions of pilot books enables to establish transit connections between fragments of text of pilot books of different producers (countries and companies), describing the same naval geographical sailing areas and equipment objects.
