FIELD: method and device for writing information; information-carrying medium.

SUBSTANCE: the device has control unit for writing and reading location data which defines the location of written information blocks. Control unit consists of representation unit which is used to determine in which of the variety of consecutive sections which make up the write zone the information block is written, and a detection unit. Representation unit writes a random signal element into a location in the representation zone. This location is the indicator of the defined section and the length of the random signal element is less than the length of the defined information block. Detection unit detects the presence of written random signal elements in the defined representation zone and thus determines if the section contains at least one information block. The highest-order written address is determined by detecting the written location with the highest-order address in the representation zone and subsequent examination of the defined section about written tags presence.
