FIELD: filtering units for filtration of molten steel.
SUBSTANCE: proposed filtration unit is made from material having linked network of graphitized carbon with at least two sieve plates (2,4) having wavy surfaces (6, 6a) and projecting frame (5, 5a) which are interconnected forming space or chamber of reservoir (7). Through holes (3, 3a) may be shifted relative to each other in transversal direction. Proposed method includes molding of semi-moist mixture containing ceramic powder, precursor of binder to be graphitized, fibers and other additives in hydraulic press, thus obtaining sieve plates (2, 4) with projecting frame (5, 5a) and internal wavy surface (6, 6a); then, sieve plates (2, 4) are connected by means of projecting frame (5, 5a) by means of ceramic or carbon binder, thus forming space or chamber of reservoir (7) between two plates 92, 4); unit (1) thus assembled is subjected to annealing in reducing or oxidizing atmosphere. Proposed method ensures enhanced removal of slag at improved break of molten steel flow.
EFFECT: low cost of process; enhanced ecological safety due to avoidance of polyurethane combustion products.
