DEVICE FOR METERED DELIVERY OF RAW MATERIALS INTO ALUMINUM ELECTROLYZER Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C25C3/14 

FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; electrolytic production of aluminum.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device is used for delivery of raw materials (alumina, aluminum fluoride, crushed electrolyte) into aluminum electrolyzer provided with roasted anodes at central power supply. Proposed device includes bin for raw materials and proportioner containing drive from pneumatic cylinder with rod, proportioner pipe whose lower part performs function of proportioning chamber; rigidly secured above proportioning chamber on rod is piston performing function of gate of proportioner loading ports; end-piece screwed to lower end of rod is used as plug for reducing flow section during motion of piston past narrow part of skirt mounted on end face of proportioner, thus excluding pouring of material through outlet hole when loading ports are open; outlet holes are closed and opened by taper valve freely suspended through ball joint consisting of ball pin with end-piece secured to lower end of rod. This device ensures enhanced stability of delivered dose of raw material due to reduction of dependence of dose of raw material on its physical characteristics.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability due to avoidance of deformation of rod and shut-off members.
