FIELD: electrical engineering; single-slit arc-control chambers of pneumatic and electromagnetic contactors.

SUBSTANCE: proposed high-voltage arc-control chamber has coupled insulating walls forming slit with transverse insulating partitions, arc-control devices, outlet slot, arcing horns mounted between walls, magnetic poles enclosing slot area with insulating partitions, and perforated plate inserted in slot at chamber outlet. Each of coupled walls is molded of two separately disposed arc-suppressing materials having different electrical and arc-control parameters, respectively, in vicinity of arc pre-elongation and in vicinity of arc control.

EFFECT: enhanced electric strength and reliability of arc-control chamber under different operating conditions.
