FIELD: plastic working of metals, possibly manufacture of fastening parts.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting off measured -length blank; upsetting it and forming outer polygon; forming cone outer working surface and simultaneously chamfering transition portion between polygon and nut end; then forming opening for thread at basing blank according to cone surface formed beforehand. Stainless steel of martensite-ferrite class containing carbon, chrome, nickel, silicon, manganese, iron is used as blank material at next relation of ingredients, mass %: carbon, 0.11 - 0.17; chrome, 0.14 - 0.40; nickel, 1.5 - 3.0; silicon, no more than 0.8; manganese, no more than 0.8' iron, the balance. Outer surface of nut is subjected to electrochemical polishing.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance, improved quality of nuts operating in aggressive media.
