FIELD: railway transport.

SUBSTANCE: traction electric drive comprises power source, switch, armature windings of the first and second traction electric motors, and exciting windings of the first and second traction electric motors, which are connected in series. The common lead of the armature winding of the second traction electric motor and the exciting winding of the first traction electric motor are connected with the first capacitor through the first resistor. The cathode of the first thyristor is connected with the first lead of the second resistor. The traction electric drive additionally has the second capacitor, two diodes, and third thyristor. The anode of the first thyristor is connected with the common lead of the first resistor and first capacitor whose free lead is connected with the anode of the second thyristor and cathode of the first diode. The free lead of the second resistor is connected with the anode of the second diode whose cathode is connected with the anode of the first diode and first lead of the second capacitor. The first lead of the third resistor is connected with the common lead of the armature winding of the first traction electric motor and switch. The second lead of the third resistor is connected with the anode of the third thyristor and second lead of the second capacitor. The cathodes of the first, second and third thyristors and free lead of the exciting winding of the second traction electric motor are interconnected and connected with the common bus.
