END SEAL FRICTION RING FORMING METHOD Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC F16J15/34

FIELD: sealing processes and device, namely end seals, possibly in many branches of national economy for sealing rotating shafts of machines and mechanisms.

SUBSTANCE: method for forming friction ring of end seal having metallic yoke and friction ring comprises steps of winding on outer cylindrical surface of friction ring fluoroplast belt; heating metallic yoke; pressing friction ring into metallic yoke and cooling them at 20°C. Outer cylindrical surface of friction ring and inner cylindrical surface of metallic yoke are worked for providing surface roughness and accuracy parameters determined according to interference fit 0.05 - 0.8 mm. Belt of fluoroplast material is wound by two layers on outer cylindrical surface of friction ring. End portions of belt are overlapped by 5 - 10% of ring circle length. At winding first layer, belt is forced simultaneously to outer cylindrical surface of ring for filling irregularities of surface of friction ring. Metallic yoke is heated up to 380 - 450°C and friction ring with two layers of belt wound on it is pressed into yoke. Surface irregularities of metallic yoke are filled with second layer of belt.

EFFECT: improved operational reliability of joining friction ring with metallic yoke due to enhanced fluid tightness of their joint in the result of guaranteed interference fit of ring in yoke.
