SUBSTANCE: invention relates to seals for flange, fitting and other connections, in particular to spiral wound gaskets used in connectors of heat exchange equipment and pipelines, devices in the oil and gas industry, chemical industry, thermal and nuclear power engineering, exhaust systems of automobile, ship and other engines internal combustion. The spiral-wound gasket contains a sealing ring in the form of a wound spiral of alternating layers of profiled metal tape and filler, wherein the filler is made in the form of a tape of a three-layer laminate consisting of a layer of reinforcing metal material, on each side of which a layer of non-metallic sealing material is glued. A method for manufacturing a spiral wound gasket is also described. In the method, a filler is pre-made in the form of a tape from a three-layer laminate consisting of a layer of reinforcing metal material, on each side of which a layer of non-metallic sealing material is glued, and then the profiled metal tape and filler are wound in a spiral to form a sealing ring. The resulting spiral-wound gasket is highly resistant to damage and washout by the environment and generally provides a higher level of reliability of the sealed connection and reduces the level of leakage of the working medium into the atmosphere.

EFFECT: it is possible to produce spiral-wound gaskets in an automatic and continuous mode without breaking the tapes, to increase the duration of the process of producing spiral-wound gaskets without refilling the equipment and to obtain a stable profile of spiral-wound gaskets with a wide field of more than 25 mm.
