FIELD: physics of magnetism; devices for converting magnetic-field energy to mechanical vibrations.
SUBSTANCE: proposed magnetically viscous pendulum has permanent magnet and ferromagnetic body attached relative to permanent magnet, for instance on sliding shaft for moving at one degree of freedom in variable-flux-density magnetic field along mentioned shaft and elastically coupled with permanent magnet, for instance by means of spring whose ends are attached to permanent magnet and ferromagnetic body, respectively; ferromagnetic body material chosen for the purpose has magnetic-viscosity relaxation time constant comparable, for instance, with one tenth of ferromagnetic body free-vibration period and preferably saturating field strength in permanent-magnet gap is chosen for ferromagnetic body. Ferromagnet possesses desired magnetic viscosity and magnetic permeability relatively reducing with increase in magnetic field strength above critical level.
EFFECT: ability of setting ferromagnet in mechanical vibratory motion.
