FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method meant to control processes within nuclear research reactors wherein amount of fuel is a few times higher than critical mass and can be used to ensure permanent conditions for irradiating parts under test includes formation of local areas in reactor core whose breeding properties approach critical ones. Irradiation conditions are organized in test channels by means of standard control elements in the course of reactor operation. These control elements are not moved during further lifetime so that neutron flux section in test channels is maintained constant. Reactivity loss is compensated for in the course of reactor running by shifting compensating elements within local area of reactor core whose parameters are close to critical value.
EFFECT: ability of maintaining desired permanent irradiating conditions within test channel.
