FIELD: biological purification of water by means of periphyton filtration making it possible to remove nutrients from inlet flow of water.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method enhances efficiency of filtration due to introduction of strong oxidant-ozone into inlet water flow and sometimes into outlet water flow, thus ensuring removal of organic nutrients which are likely to affect periphyton cultures and algae, reduction of population of undesirable microinvertebrates, forming of organic nutrients suitable for use by periphyton, as well as reduction of level of toxic components. Use is made of pesticide for control of insect population. Proposed method enhances efficiency of cleaning water from toxins, microorganisms and other contaminants due to combined treatment of water flow with ozone and periphyton.
