FIELD: methods for processing titanium-calcium raw materials, mainly sphene concentrate, possibly production of deficit and high quality titanium base products.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of processing sphene concentrate by agitating it with use of 15 - 30% hydrochloric acid at temperature 100 - 115°C and at relation of titanium to iron in range 1 : 1.2 -2.6 for transferring calcium and iron to hydrochloric acid solution and for concentrating titanium in residue containing silica and additive minerals. It is possible to carry out acidic treatment of concentrate at presence of fluorine -ion taken in quantity 0.15 - 0.25 mol/mol of TiO2. Fluorine -ion is added in the form of hydrofluoric or hydrosilicofluoric acid. Additive minerals are gravity separated from residue formed in pulp content. Residue including titanium dioxide and silica is filtered from solution of hydrochloric acid. Invention provides extraction of useful components in the form of powdered mixture of titanium dioxide and silica of nano-size fractions (32 - 44 nm) and solution of calcium chloride directly during process of acidic treatment of concentrate. Invention also provides significantly reduced consumption of hydrochloric acid at high degree (98.2 - 99.9%) of titanium extraction to deposit and of calcium (94.5 -99.3%) and iron (72.0 - 97.4%) - to solution. Titanium dioxide is produced in the form of rutile or anatase modification.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of processing sphene concentrate, simplified equipment for realizing process.
