DEVICE FOR BALLAST REMOVAL FROM UNDER RAIL ROAD BASE Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC E01B27/04 

FIELD: railway mechanization, particularly for capital railroad repair and maintenance thereof.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises working tools with ballast pusher means connected to swiveling lever mechanisms, which are mounted inside track in symmetry to longitudinal carriage axis. The carriage comprises frame with wheels, which may move along rails of the railroad, two bogies movable along frame and having sensors to detect inter-sleeper positions and rail clamps. Working tools are secured to each bogie. Each lever mechanism is of parallelogram type having ballast pusher, which is connected to parallel levers in horizontal plane and may perform vertical movement in correspondence with template profile fastened to bogie frame and defining movement pattern.

EFFECT: possibility to remove ballast from under rail base and move in to outer track part without disturbing leveled compacted ballast in ballast boxes, which fixes sleepers in working positions, possibility to remove ballast from one ballast box during working tool movement for following ballast removal from another ballast box in the case of different and broken sleeper force diagram.
