FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry of sulfur-containing organic compounds, namely, to a novel method of synthesis of trans-pinenyl sulfides of the general formula: wherein R means -CH2CH3, -CH(CH3)2, -(CH2)7CH3, -CH2COOH, -CH2COOCH3. Synthesis of trans-pinenyl sulfides is carried out by reaction of cis-verbenol with excess of the corresponding thiol in the presence of catalytic amounts of zinc chloride in methylene chloride medium at temperature 20-25°C. The reaction represents a single-step process with the yield of end substances 65-76%. Trans-pinenyl sulfides comprise reactive fragments (sulfide group and a double bond) and can be used in synthesis of novel compound with potential biological activity.
