SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for producing monoterpene sulfonic acids, comprising oxidation of terpene thiols with chlorine dioxide by adding an aqueous or organic solution of chlorine dioxide to the thiol solution at a molar ratio of thiol : chlorine dioxide of 1.0:0.5÷5.0, respectively, wherein oxidation is carried out at a temperature of from 0°C to 30°C, starting terpenic thiols are: 10-sulfanilisopinocampheol; 3-sulfanylmirtanol; 10-sulfanylisoborneol; trans-verbentiol; neomentantiol; caranthiols or hydroxycaranthiols, the solvent for the starting thiol is selected from the group: alcohols, ethers, aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons or nitrogen-containing solvents, compounds of structural formula are obtained (I)

where R₁ - H or R is a radical of the pinan structure ; or or isobornane structure or camphor structure or neomenamental structure or carane structures ; or ,

where the asterisks denote the bond through which the compound of formula (I) is attached to the sulfonic group, which are physiologically active substances and intermediates in organic synthesis for production of physiologically active monoterpene sulfamides, sulfochlorides, ethers.

EFFECT: technical result is wider arsenal of new terpene acids of a given structure, in demand in the organic synthesis of physiologically active compounds, and wider areas of application of the starting materials.
