FIELD: processes and equipment for working parts of hard-to-form refractory metals such as tungsten, possibly in machine engineering, instrument making, engine manufacture for making articles operating at extreme temperature values and force conditions.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating blank and deforming blank in envelope. Blank deformation process is realized by two stages. At first stage blank is deformed by equal-duct angular extrusion for two passes at heating it till temperature 1200 - 1250°C in die set heated up to temperature 450 - 550°C. At second stage blank is subjected to equal-duct angular extrusion at counter-pressure 400 - 600 MPa for 8 - 10 passes while blank is heated up to 900 - 1000°C. Then blank is gradually cooled in medium with temperature 500 - 600°C for complete cooling of it.
EFFECT: enhanced physical and mechanical properties of tungsten blanks due to providing their ultra-fine grain structure.
