FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: projection display includes a light source, spatial light modulator, optical system, at least one reflector and screen. At least one reflector is made aspheric and has axial symmetry with possible compensation of image distortion. Optical system contains at least one cylindrical refracting optical element, which has at least one surface with non-circular profile, set by conic constant and coefficients at highest orders of coordinate on the surface , where αi - coefficients at highest orders, c - curvature at surface vertex, k - conic constant, and which is made with possible compensation of distortion and astigmatism, appearing in an image when passing the aspheric reflector. Light source is made with possible emission of light onto spatial light modulator. Spatial light modulator is made with possible insertion of information about image into radiation of source and redirection of emitted light through optical system and at least one aspheric symmetric reflector to screen.

EFFECT: increased efficiency.
