METHOD FOR PREDICTING DIFFERENT STAGES OF EPILEPTOGENESIS Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61B5/476

Abstract RU 2297791 C2

FIELD: medicine, psychiatry, neurology.

SUBSTANCE: it is necessary to carry out encephalographic monitoring and process the obtained EEG due to fractional analysis. Moreover, EEG monitoring should be fulfilled in the state of passive activity, the duration of analysis corresponds to 3 min, the signals of the following leads serve as the material for processing: the leads of left and right frontal, central, parietal, occipital, anterior-temporal and posterior-temporal cortical areas. One should calculate the fractional index and fractional dimensionality of low-frequency and middle-frequency fluctuations of alpha-rhythm power. At decreased fractional index and increased fractional dimensionality in all cortical areas in both ranges of frequencies one should diagnose initial stage of epileptogenesis; at further decrease of fractional index and increased fractional dimensionality in low-frequency and middle-frequency ranges being the most pronounced in posterior cortical departments, at significant alteration of the values in parietal, right occipital and left posterior-temporal areas in both ranges and, also, in right posterior-temporal area in low-frequency and in right central area in middle-frequency range one should diagnose epilepsy without paroxysms at EEG, and at considerable alterations in fractional power values of EEG alpha-rhythm in parietal, occipital and posterior-temporal cortical areas within low-frequency fluctuations and, also, in all the areas except left anterior-temporal one within the range of middle-frequency fluctuations - one should diagnose epilepsy with paroxysms at EEG. The innovation improves EEG data processing due to fractional analysis technique.

EFFECT: higher significance of diagnostics.
