METHOD TO ASSESS EFFICIENCY OF ANTIEPILEPTIC THERAPY OF LOCALLY DRIVEN EPILEPSY OF ADULTS Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A61B5/476

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the field of medicine, namely to neurology, psychiatry and neurophysiology. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is monitored during wakefulness and sleep. As record is processed, stationary sections of EEG are identified in period of relaxed wakefulness and into 2-3 stage of slow sleep, devoid of artifacts, pathological and epileptiform activity and differentiated physiological patterns of sleep on EEG with even distribution of signal frequencies without visually identified domination of any rhythm. Delta and alpha indices are measured, total count of capacity of delta and alpha rhythm spectrum is made and matched to total capacity of all rhythms, which is calculated by means of modified Fourier transformation. Then ratio of total volumes of rhythmic activity is calculated in wakefulness period compared to period of sleep. If value of ratio of delta activity is below 1, total volumes of alpha activity are calculated in period of wakefulness relative to sleep period, and if ratio value is below 1, insufficiency of applied therapy is confirmed.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase accuracy of assessment of efficiency of antiepileptic therapy of locally driven epilepsy of adults.
