FIELD: electrical engineering; producing flexible porous insulating materials for separators of chemical power supplies.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for producing porous composite material for alkali storage battery separators includes dispersion of zirconium dioxide fibers in liquid medium until homogeneous slurry is obtained, production of half-finished composite material by way of vacuum filtration through porous backing followed by its drying and molding. For producing layer feed, layer of pre-dispersed discrete zirconium dioxide fibers with pore size of up to 10 μm is first formed and then layer obtained is covered with layer of pre-dispersed zirconium dioxide staple fiber with pore size of 20-70 μm. Ratio of discrete fiber layer to staple fiber layer is 1 : (2.2-4). Separators produced from such material comply with specifications for aircraft battery separators with respect to alkali retention, resistivity, total porosity, and pore size.
EFFECT: enhanced strength, flexibility, and operating reliability.
