FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: electrolyte used for proposed fuel cell that can be employed in miscellaneous electrified installations, for instance vehicles, or as stand-by power supply, is melt or solution incorporating high concentration of ammonium ions; ammonia content in fuel-cell anode region is maintained at high level and its content in cathode region, at low level by transferring ammonia from cathode region to anode region by means of special-purpose device in the form of absorption plant. Hydrogen-containing gas is preferably produced for fuel cell by thermal or catalytic decomposition of ammonia.
EFFECT: reduced dependence of electrolyte characteristics on carbon dioxide content of hydrogen- or oxygen-containing gas; enhanced potential of fuel cell.
