FIELD: radio engineering, in particular, method for transferring data in wireless local network, possible use, for example, in wireless local networks for transferring data in accordance with IEEE 802.11b standard.

SUBSTANCE: for transferring blocks of data such transfer speed, data transfer mechanism and fragment size are selected, which maximize network throughput with consideration of receipt conditions at receiving station (probabilities of bit error in transferred blocks of data of transmitting station), also current network load is taken into consideration.

EFFECT: increased throughput of local networks compliant with IEEE 802.11b standard.
