METHOD OF DETOXIFICATION OF DESTROYED INDUSTRIAL BUILDING FRAGMENTS POLLUTED WITH LEWISITE AND CONVERSION PRODUCTS THEREOF Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC B09B3/00

Abstract RU 2299100 C2

FIELD: chemical weapons destruction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detoxification of polluted former lewisite production objects and, in general, consists in grinding building materials and treating them with reagents. According to invention, part of building, prior to be destroyed, is moderately sprinkled through atomizer with saturated calcium hydroxide solution or with aqueous extract of cement powder with pH =10, which ensures transformation of lewisite and conversion products thereof into physiologically inactive, insoluble, nonvolatile, and environmentally non-dangerous form. Grinding is continued until fraction = 20 mm is obtained, which is simultaneously sprinkled with the same solution. Further, ground building materials are mixed with cement mortar at a rate of 1 part of building materials with 3-6 parts sand, 1 part cement, and amount of water sufficient to form pappy mass. Well mixed mass is charged into mold and held therein until stable solid material is obtained suitable for manufacturing desired-destination products.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of lewisite and its conversion products detoxification, and reduced consumption of materials required for detoxification.
