FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely manufacture of rails.
SUBSTANCE: rails are straightened at application of additional force due to using additional idle roller being the last one in straightening pattern and having diameter consisting of 0.6 - 0.8 of diameter of drive rollers. Point of applying first force is shifted in vertical plane by 7.5 -15 mm while rail moves between points of applying first and third forces by action of second force till achieving camber value 0 - 2 mm.
EFFECT: enhanced straightness degree of rails, lowered residual stresses at straightening non-quenched rails in roller type straightening machine, increased wear resistance of straightening rollers.
