FIELD: microwave antenna engineering; phased active antenna arrays for radio-electronic systems.
SUBSTANCE: proposed passive-active phased antenna array has n radiating components, n passive-active transceiver modules, and distribution system; each passive-active transceiver module has m active transceiver modules, each incorporating transmitting-channel power amplifier, receiving-channel low-noise amplifiers, phase shifter, and monitoring-and-control circuit, as well as (n - m) passive transceiver modules each incorporating phase shifter and its control circuit; input of each active transceiver module in transmit mode (output in receive mode) is connected to respective output (input) of microwave power distribution system and output in transmit mode (input in receive module) is connected to common channel of power splitter (power adder); one radiating component is connected directly to one output channel in transmit mode (to input channel in receive mode) of power splitter (power adder) and other radiating components are series-connected through passive transceiver module to respective channels.
EFFECT: reduced cost, mass, and size of array without loss of desired output microwave power.
