FIELD: communications engineering, possible use for commutation of a set of packet-oriented signals in networks, in particular for commutation and routing in networks.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to invention, a set of port blocks is used, having one or more ports, while ports may be connected to networks, of commutation block, which preferably has function of matrix switch, at least of one first protocols block, which analyzes at least part of signals and their value, while a set of other protocol blocks are present, which are directly matched with port blocks and classify signals on basis of transmission protocol to, depending on transmission protocol, for one part of packets, perform independent protocol processing, and for other part, to transfer protocol processing to first protocol block.
EFFECT: increased efficiency.
