FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out general clinical examination of aggravated diabetic foot syndrome patients. Punctured soft tissue biopsy is taken in three points belonging to lower one-third of crus above the external malleolus, on external part of upper one-third of crus and on lateral surface of femoral lower one-third. Microscopic study of tissue biopsy samples is carried out. Bioptate under study possessing tissue necrosis signs, amputation is planned proximally with respect to the place the bioptate has been taken from. No necrosis signs being found, conservative treatment is to be continued for retaining the extremity.
EFFECT: reduced number of lower extremity amputations.
