SAFE METHOD FOR SETTING EPIDURAL CATHETER IN PROLONGED ANALGESIA TUNNEL Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61M19/00

Abstract RU 2301083 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves modifying Tuohi needle after having catheterized epidural space, deleting its pavilion. Then the needle is introduced into available postpucture skin hole near the epidural catheter field with its sharp end directed away from the catheter and hypodermically advanced 5 cm far, bringing the sharp end outside. The catheter is introduced into needle lumen from blunt part until it exits at the distal end. Then the needle is taken out from under the skin through distal hole, leaving the catheter in tunnel.

EFFECT: prevented postpuncture complications.
