FIELD: the invention is used for definition of coefficient of longitudinal ultrasound vibrations' fading in material.

SUBSTANCE: the essence is in that sequential introduction of impulses of ultrasound vibrations are executed with the aid if a fault finder and a direct piezoelectric transformer in samples of material perpendicularly to their surface, receiving of impulses reflected from the bottom surface of each of the sample, the reflected impulses of ultrasound vibrations to which ordinal numbers are conferred, the calculation of fading coefficient are fulfilled according to two echo-signals measured over each of the samples whose relation of amplitude put together a value of no more then 2:3 on each of the samples, and the minimal on amplitude echo-signal is no less then in two times exceeds the amplitude of noises in a electrical acoustical channel of the fault finder, the system of equations are solved and the coefficient of fading of longitudinal ultrasound vibrations in material and the coefficient of reflection of ultrasound vibrations from the border material-transformer are defined.

EFFECT: definition of the coefficient of fading on two samples at small difference of their thickness and also possibility of definition of the coefficient of reflection of ultrasound vibrations from the border material-transformer without carrying out of additional measurements.
