FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: at the first step a reference echo signal of electroacoustic pickup is detected and stored in a storage unit, wherein in order to form the reference signal from material which is identical to the material of the inspected sample, a non-defective reference standard sample is made, whose defectiveness is ensured by using other test methods, the size of the inspected thickness of said non-defective reference sample is selected greater than the maximum thickness of the inspected object, which ensures absence of any base echo within the inspected depth interval; further, at the second step, a piezoelectric transducer is installed on the surface of the inspected article, a working echo signal is detected, which is transmitted to the first input of a subtraction unit, to the second input of which is transmitted a signal from the storage unit, and the signal from the output of the subtraction unit is transmitted to an indicator.

EFFECT: high reliability of ultrasonic nondestructive inspection.
