ULTRASONIC INSPECTION METHOD OF ARTICLES WITH EQUIDISTANT SURFACES Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC G01N29/04

Abstract RU 2725705 C1

FIELD: defectoscopy.

SUBSTANCE: use for non-destructive testing of articles with equidistant surfaces by ultrasonic mirror-shadow method. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that using the inclined electroacoustic transducer with a given pitch, probing ultrasonic signals are emitted into the article, which are reflected from opposite surface of article, are received by another inclined electroacoustic transducer installed at known distance from emitting, estimating amplitudes of received ultrasonic signals, jointly moving electroacoustic transducers on surface of article, measuring their coordinates, maintaining coordinates of points of significant attenuation of amplitudes of received ultrasonic signals, estimating the distance between said points and calculating the depth of the defect, the width of the beam pattern of the electroacoustic transducers is selected based on the condition of stable reception of ultrasonic signals reflected from the opposite surface of the article in the entire range of possible changes in the height of the article, on defect-free sections of the article, the time of propagation of ultrasonic signals from the radiating electroacoustic transducer to the receiving one is measured; the current thickness of the article is determined, which is used when calculating the depth of the defect.

EFFECT: high reliability and reliability of ultrasonic inspection of articles with equidistant surfaces, in which the height of the article during scanning can vary within certain limits.
