FIELD: carbon materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption engineering and, in particular, to manufacturing ultrastrong spherical activated carbons. Manufacturing process comprises tarring of mixture including solution of epoxide resin in furfurol and sulfuric acid through mixing these components for a period of time constituting 65-90% of mixture gelation time followed by molding, gelation, and solidification of spherical granules by dispersing mixture into mineral oil layer preheated to 90-120°C. Granules are allowed to lay under oil layer until cooling, after which granules are carbonized at temperature raise rate 12-16°C/min to final temperature 850°C within medium of gases released during thermodestruction process and then activated.
EFFECT: improved gas adsorption properties of activated carbon and improved mechanical strength characteristics thereof.
