FIELD: sorption engineering, more particularly preparation of granular activated carbon. SUBSTANCE: method comprises mixing of finely divided carbon-containing material, granulation of the mixture, carbonization, activation, cooling of granules, impregnation of granules after cooling with solution of thermoreactive synthetic carbon material in amount of 8-20 wt.% and heat treatment at 600-750 C in inert gas. Method makes if possible to increase mechanical strength of activated carbon with high absorption power with respect to vapors of organic matter having boiling temperature of 60-100 C.
