SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of crushed active coals from polymer raw materials. Disclosed is a method of producing active carbon, comprising mixing furfural with epoxy resin and sulphuric acid, curing the composition, crushing it, carbonisation and activation of the granules, wherein thermal curing of the composition is carried out in two steps, first at room temperature for 20-24 hours, and then at temperature of 60-70 °C for 2-3 hours, and carbonisation is carried out at a temperature rise rate of 10-15 °C/min to 750 °C, and then activation is carried out at temperature of 850-870 °C to burnt 20-30%.
EFFECT: high adsorption activity when extracting iodine from aqueous solutions.
