FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method is designed for cooling seal of turbine shaft arranged in wall of chamber. Seal is heated by not compressed steam seeping through labyrinth into chamber, and by internal friction. Method contains the following steps: a) provision of chamber in which seal is located and into which hot compressed steam seeps; b) injection of cold liquid into chamber; and c) cooling and condensing of hot compressed steam in chamber. Method can be used in power plants including evaporator, condenser and circulating pump.
EFFECT: reduced wear of seal surfaces.
