PIPELINE MOVABLE MAGNETIC FLAW DETECTOR Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC G01N27/83

Abstract RU 2303779 C1

FIELD: nondestructive testing.

SUBSTANCE: detector comprises cylindrical base provided with bearing and pulling collars. The magnetization system has two units for transverse magnetization made of ring belts arranged on the cylindrical base provided with magnetic members with opposite direction of the magnetic field and shifted one with respect to the other by πd/2n, where d is diameter of the ring belt of the magnetization system, n is the number of poles of the ring belt of the magnetization unit, system for recording information that is provided with the pickups of the scattering magnetic field set in the flexible members interposed between the poles for permitting a contact with the inner side of the pipeline, distant members made of brushes made of magnetically soft material mounted on the units for transverse magnetization, power source, unit for processing and collecting information, and unit for measuring the velocity of flaw detector. The magnetic members of the system of magnetization are made of closed permanent magnets whose openings receives the flexible members with the pickups of magnetic field. The distance between the pickups is no more than 3.5 mm. The magnetic members are mounted on the base along the generatrices or at an angle of no more than 10° to the generatrices.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability and reduced sizes.
