FIELD: nuclear power engineering; systems checking fuel element cans of pressure-tube reactor core for leakage.

SUBSTANCE: method for detecting leaky fuel assembly in pressure-tube reactor core that involves recording of γ-quanta from steam-water lines emitted by steam-water mixture isotopes and for estimating measurement results obtained is proposed to include simultaneous measurement of γ-quanta count rate integral at chosen intervals with energies ranging between 0/5 and 1.5 MeV and at energies ranging between 0.8 and 1,8 MeV, leaky fuel assemblies being detected by higher γ-quanta count rates within mentioned ranges as compared with preceding measurement results.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability of detecting leaky fuel assembly thereby improving radiation situation in addition to fuel saving.
