FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method to measure coolant flow includes registration of change in neutron activity of a coolant isotope 17N during its movement between two detectors placed near a flow-metering section of a pipeline with permanent section S at the specified distance L from each other and subsequent calculation of the coolant flow. The device to measure the coolant flow comprises two ionising division chambers, two units of high-voltage supply and preliminary amplification of a signal, two signal processing units, two units of signal intensity calculation and an electronic unit of coolant flow calculation. At the same time the output of each chamber is connected to the input of its high-voltage supply and preliminary signal amplification unit, outputs from signal processing units are connected to inputs of signal intensity calculation units, and their outputs in their turn are connected to inputs of the electronic unit for calculation of the coolant flow.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurement and validity of coolant flow calculation results, simplified device design.
