FIELD: metallurgy, namely continuous casting of metal with use of tubular mold having doubled T-shaped inner and outer sections in hollow beam format.

SUBSTANCE: wall thickness D of tubular mold 1 in rounded transition zones 2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d from mutually opposite narrowed in direction of lengthwise axis 3 mean bridges 4 to adjacent obliquely directed wings 5 is at least partially less than that of remaining portions 6, 7 of walls. Thickness D of walls in transition zones 2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d is lowered only at level of metal heel. At outer side of transition zones 2 there are lengthwise oriented grooved recesses 8.

EFFECT: possibility for preventing local overheating of mold walls, increased useful life period of mold.
